New Look
I took a little break and finalized the new look of Tech Op/Ed. I’ve switched from Blogger to WordPress. I liked Blogger, but the New Blogger engine isn’t very friendly to external hosting… so it’s great if I want to run my blog from Blogger’s site, but not from my own domain. So I started using some of the features from GoDaddy.com, where www.techoped.com is hosted. GoDaddy carries WordPress – and many many other content management solutions and tools like Joomla - as a one-click install. In fact, I have to hand it to GoDaddy for having one of the the cheapest, full-featured hosting sites. I know other hosts are faster, have more space or are tweaked to run certain applications better. But I am very pleased with the flexibility of GoDaddy, and that is my unbiased, unpaid opinion on the matter.
And by the way, since I seem to be do some gratis schilling, let me throw in that if you’re paying more than $9 for a domain name (like on NetworkSolutions)… you are getting majorly screwed. I left NSI a few years ago and I can’t believe I wasted so much on domain names. Stop the madness. Move your names to GoDaddy or one of the other reputable, sane-rate registrar.
Anyways, I’m still wrapping up some loose ends with the style sheets and other info, but I like this design and I think I’ll stick with it for a while.
Hopefully I’ll have a chance to write more often starting in June. For now I’m busy busy busy, but I’ll try to squeeze out a couple articles before the end of the month.
Thanks for reading.
